De Kom

The Netherlands
September 2012

ShowTex Netherlands supplied stage drapes and tracks for the two theatre halls in the venue along with a variety of custom designed backstage accessories.

The selection of theatre curtains for De Kom consists of flame retardant treated natural fabrics that will stand the test of time. The 650 seat Rabobank Hall features a 81m² Mohair main curtain dyed to perfectly match the theatre seating. ShowTex’s Mohair Gaudi combines cotton and angora wool mohair to produce a silky sheen and deep rich colours. Front curtains for De Kom were lined with Dekotaft and installed on heavy duty ShowTrack with rear-fold runners to produce a uniform linear framed sightline as the curtains open and close.

Borders, legs, and backdrops are a heavy weight black wool made from recycled materials. Stage basics like Sharkstooth scrim, cotton canvases, and cycs were also manufactured in the ShowTex workshop and installed on PipeSnaps for easy removal and repositioning. Additionally, all drapes are weighted with adjustable Fastco rods. Backstage curtain storage carts for the Kom are also custom sized to accommodate large volumes of fabric.

The vinyl ballet floor supplied by ShowTex was integrated into a custom sized EasyRoller dance floor cart.  Multiple rolls can be securely placed in the cart for storage and transport. Dance vinyl can simply be rolled out by a single theatre technician with the cart’s modular handle so there’s no need to lift rolls out of the storage rack.

For De Kom’s smaller 220 seat space, ShowTex supplied black wool wall masking drapes, borders, legs, and backdrops as well as a projection screen and custom curved tracks.
