At this year’s Joy Awards, printed stage fabrics transform into projection surfaces, a perfectly timed curtain reveal adds impact to Michael Bublé’s performance, and reflective panels bring depth to Andrea Bocelli’s set, alongside many more spectacular moments.
Both the stage and the venue itself are true showstoppers at this awards show. Above the crowd, a giant diamond-shaped canopy ceiling stretches into the air. Printed on blackout fabric, it consists of 172 perfectly cut fabric triangles. Each piece fits like part of a puzzle, forming an impressive, layered ceiling structure that flow all the way from the front of the stage to the back of the venue.
But the canopy is more than a scenic highlight. It’s also a fully functional projection surface. Each element lines up perfectly to keep the projected visuals sharp and seamless. Add LED lighting and black masking, and suddenly the ceiling becomes a shimmering night sky!
Halfway through Michael Bublé’s performance, a perfectly timed surprise rocks the stage. Six large Satinac drapes drop in sync with the music, thanks to the magic combo of Kabuki and HiSpeed Reveal.
The luxurious and lightweight display fabric stands out for its smooth texture and rich colour, making it ideal for this kind of dramatic reveal. With one precise sniffer effect, the curtains drop and get pulled out of sight, creating a powerful show opening.
Did you know that the ShowTex team runs pre-show tests and works closely with the production crew to get the reveal timing just right? All to make sure things run smoothly when it matters most.
During Andrea Bocelli’s performance, the set plays with light and reflection in all the right ways. Eight GiantMirror panels are carefully placed to reflect the live action while doubling as projection surfaces. Each glassless mirror is backed with a masking drape to cut unwanted glare and sharpen the imagery. The result? Extra contrast, controlled reflections and crystal-clear visuals.
When a rock band hits the stage, the set needs to match their energy. Enter: six towering pillars made from decorative blackout fabric, printed to look like raw concrete.
Stretched tightly around each frame, the printed pillars look solid and industrial. But halfway through the show, they open to reveal the performers hiding inside. A slick reveal that hits right on cue!
For Inside the Mind’s Eye, a glowing grid of 36 gold BannerDrape panels becomes the centrepiece. The large, geometric structure catches the light and draws the crowd’s attention. But it’s more than just decorative...
Each metallic panel is backed with Molton to add depth and control reflections. At just the right moment, performers appear through tight cues and perfect symmetry.
From the first sketch to the final cue, the ShowTex team works closely with the creatives to ensure every piece moves in sync with the rhythm of the performance. Clean, structured, and full of flair.
