Giudizio Universale

Rome, Italy
May 2018

“Giudizio Universale - Michelangelo and the Secrets of the Sistine Chapel” features the most advanced technology of live entertainment created with the scientific advice of the Vatican Museums. A giant vault spanning over the auditorium seating area immerses the audience in lifelike frescos of the Sistine Chapel by means of a majestic 270° projection surface!

Projecting on a grey sharkstooth scrim

On stage, two horizontal layers of dark grey GobelinTulle strike the perfect balance between front projection and transparency. By varying the amount of light on both theatre scrims, the ecstatic audience can witness an amazing 3D effect that blurs the line between physical and digital reality.

Flame-retardant masking solutions

Spanning 27m wide at a height of 12m, the vault provides an impressive projection surface in need of some high-quality masking curtains! Using over 500 sqm of black Molton legs and custom-curved borders, the auditorium was carefully masked to keep all unwanted lights out and make the projections stand out. As the flame-retardant Molton is also a great acoustic fabric, it even enhanced the overall sound of the venue by eliminating disturbing reverberations.

Created by Marco Balich, the impressive show brings a unique sensorial journey combining many different art forms, advanced technology and magical special effects to educate and amuse every single visitor.

"There is nothing more exciting than the beauty of art!" (Marco Balich)
