Amazing Stage Fabrics in Motion
Atelier Pronovias celebrated its 60th anniversary at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week with a fashion show at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. The centrepiece of the stage was a shape-shifting projection surface crafted from white Blackout Double fabric by ShowTex, with Eikonos responsible for the technical production.
Picture this: a sleek white fabric chandelier suspended above the catwalk. Suddenly, it descends, transforming into a 360º projection screen in the centre of the stage. Video mapping effects come to life on the flame-retardant fabric, immersing the audience in a breathtaking visual experience. Then, just as the show is about to begin, the screen rises back into its chandelier form, setting the stage for the runway.
The technical brilliance of this installation lies in its deceptively simple mechanism. The Blackout Double fabric was initially suspended in a chandelier formation, with a high central point and a broader ring slightly lower, creating the distinctive shape hanging above the runway. During the transformation, the outer ring was drawn upward while the central point descended to the floor, unfolding the fabric into a perfect cylindrical projection surface.
The white opaque fabric proved to be the perfect choice, allowing for smooth movement and a seamless transformation, while also ensuring excellent projection quality.
