John Otto creates amazing set for “Empire Noir”, the latest dance performance by David Dawson for The Dutch National Ballet.
Set designer John Otto emphasized the size of the stage by creating an impressive organic set in terra brown StretchTulle that seems to be rising from the ground. The 24 m long construction was backed with black Molton to create endless depth and convey a feeling of emptiness.
The talent of the dancers was highlighted by the overexposed light design, which stood in remarkable contrast with the night black stage.
