Maison de la Laïcité

Charleroi, Belgium
December 2018

Transforming an empty and hollow-sounding hall of 400 square metres into an appealing venue for hosting a variety of events? Yes, we can! The Belgian Maison de la Laïcité was looking for an eco-friendly solution allowing flexible room layouts while greatly enhancing the acoustics.

Integrated curtain suspension

Over 110 metres of budget-friendly curtain tracks were integrated in the ceiling to form a subtle suspension system. All H100 rails including the four custom-bent curves were positioned in a way that enables different room layouts. Depending on the event, the 600 running metres of drapes can now be positioned to divide the venue into several smaller spaces or to keep it as one large room.

Eco-friendly acoustic fabrics

To tackle the acoustic issue, the community centre insisted on the use of sustainable and natural materials. No better choice than our Wool Serge Panne!

Made of regenerated wool, this flame-retardant fabric is beneficial to the environment while having a very positive impact on your budget, compared to pure new woollen curtains. And best of all, the 6-metre-high drapes dampen sound and reduce reverberation levels like no other.

An all-inclusive acoustic solution!
