A touring exhibition filled with stunning print fabrics and cutting-edge technology brings the iconic monument of Notre Dame de Paris to life in Shanghai. Are you in for a ride? Because augmented reality and XL light boxes instantly take you back to different periods and events that shaped this iconic cathedral.
Printing historical images is one thing, but how do you make them stand out? Thanks to their smooth surface and excellent light diffusion properties, the print fabrics used for this exhibition are perfect for backlit applications. Just add light behind them and you’ll see the colours of the large-scale prints become super intense and vivid. The cherry on the pie? Mounting the artworks in custom-made frames, which made them easy to install and tension as well!
As you walk through the exhibition, you will be amazed by the colourful stained glass windows that reflect the Gothic style of the cathedral. But imagine this: the windows are not real! They are printed on semi-transparent and frosted foil that mimics the effect of stained glass. The foggy fabric diffuses both light and colours very realistically, creating a mysterious and sacred atmosphere. What a visual experience.
One of the main challenges of this touring expo was to replicate the stunning cathedral floor in a material that is durable enough to withstand frequent transport and installation. The solution? Printable DanceCarpet. This double-sided vinyl floor is lightweight, durable and very versatile, which made it a perfect match for this museum display.
