Are you our General Branch Manager?
Imagine spending your working days in a company that breathes creativity. One that goes all out to bring to life the artistic ideas of event & entertainment professionals worldwide. A company that is part of an international group, but still feels like a family. Welcome to ShowTex South Africa, based in Cape Town and Johannesburg!
LET US INTRODUCE OURSELVES
You know those drapes that define a theatre? Or the scenic fabrics that create a mood on stage? That's us, that’s what we do. Event decoration, trade show displays, fabric reveal systems, projection screens …yup, all of that.
As a worldwide leader in inventing, producing and installing highly innovative, flame-retardant textiles and suspension systems, we gladly spend our days tackling the most creative challenges in set building, stage and stand design.
Our branch in South Africa is small, but we are well-equipped. We have a 1000 SQM warehouse in Cape Town and a 250 SQM in Jo’Burg. In total the team consists of 12 enthusiastic people.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
You’ve got strong people skills? As the General Manager of ShowTex South Africa, you know how to bring out the best in your team, making them the best version of themselves.
And what about your multitasking? We're talking about juggling daily operations in our 2 SA branches, communications, corporate strategy, HR and a strong focus on business development.
There's a bigger picture though: as part of the international group of branch managers, you won’t be left on your own. The team of ShowTex Middle East has got your back and our headquarters in Belgium will support and assist you in any way they can.
NOW HERE'S YOUR DREAM JOB
LEARNING & COMMUNICATING
First up, you'll have some studying to do. Get to know what we do and how we do it, before aligning your branch's daily operations with those of the ShowTex brand. We share the same goals and values, so let's keep in touch!
Once you know how we roll, you can start defining and implementing local strategies for optimising general processes.
You encourage your team to develop a sense of project ownership. Because every colleague, on any level, should be able to make decisions, report issues and suggest improvements within his/her competencies and responsibilities.
But you as the key figure will look for creative and cost-effective problem-solving, advice and deciding on complex commercial or operational situations, it's all part of your dream job.
Now let's talk tactics. Becoming an insider of the entertainment industry means you can determine market potential, anticipate trends and analyse competitor plans to further expand your client portfolio and markets. Networking is very much your thing and you're ready to dream big because the African continent is yours.
We'd love to hear about your targets and your action plans to meet them. In the end, your swift interventions are crucial for maximising the company's opportunities or minimising its loss.
You will hire, coach and evaluate your team. By recognizing their talents, you will stimulate growth and enable a positive working environment. In good and in bad times though, because obviously not all good intentions end well and you know how to respond when things don't go as planned.
Still with us? We hope so, seeing we'd regularly like to hear from you.
Discuss your team's challenges, successes and opportunities with HQ and present your recommendations on how to address them. The Board of Directors will be there to assist and help with complex personnel, operational & strategic issues, technical and product-related matters. Communication is key to great success!
CURIOUS ABOUT HOW WE SEE YOU?
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
No doubt you speak English fluently, how else will you pull off those communication skills, but are there any other languages you can surprise us with?
You worked in a multidisciplinary team-leading function for at least 2 years and your professional experience or strong personal interest in the cultural / entertainment sector is mind-blowing.
You have a graduate degree, ideally in social or commercial sciences, theatre studies, textiles or event management. Of course, we will love you even more if you know your way around finance, HR and operational coordination.
