t Speelhuis Theatre

Helmond, The Netherlands
February 2013

‘t Speelhuis celebrated a glorious reopening in a unique location.  After a fire destroyed the theatre in 2011, ‘t Speelhuis found a temporary home in Helmond’s Neo Byzantine dome style Onze Lieve Vrouwe church. The church element of the building had to be meticulously preserved while making way for a professional performance stage and floating seating area. ShowTex manufactured, supplied and installed all curtains and tracks for the welcome return of the region’s popular theatre.

The main house curtain is a regal ochre yellow made from Velours Verdi. A decorative fabric in similar tones was also chosen as a barrier curtain between the foyer and the performance space. Stage drapes are rigged on H100 track, custom curved ShowTrack, and ShowPipe depending on the application. ShowTex manufactured borders, legs, backdrops, and masking panels from black Wool. A sharkstooth scrim GobelinTulle cloth along with a storage valence and ecru coloured Cyclorama were also installed.

‘t Speelhuis also has 4 custom sized ShowTex Canvas Hampers, DanceCarpet Double vinyl stage flooring and 3 EasyRoller DanceFloor Carts. The foyer features a stunning combination of ShowLED Classic starcloth draped with light diffusing Two Tone Organza CS. All together, this project marks the triumphant return of an intimate and originally designed performance venue.
