GIS Day began in 1999 and has been celebrated by more than 10,000 organizations in over 80 countries.
It provides an international forum for users of geographic information systems (GIS) technology to demonstrate real-world applications that make a difference in society. GIS users share their knowledge and passion with others and show the tremendous impact the technology is making each day.
This year's GIS day in Abu Dhabi showcased a giant ShowTex Blackout projection screen measuring 7 by 110 metres! Not only was the screen one of the biggest in the world, it had nine corners to stretch it around the entire venue. The exclusive ShowTex high frequency welding machine ensured no seams were visible on this amazing screen. ShowTex Middle East also installed a couple of 12 m long tunnels decked out in ShowLED Animation starcloth. Black masking in Molton finished off the impressive project. Thanks to the fantastic collaboration with Nomada, this event was truly a success story!
