Platinum Europe is the recording industry's pre-eminent award for album sales in Europe and is celebrated at an awards ceremony every two years. The International recording gathered in Brussels in 2000 to pay homage to the elite community of artists and musicians who had sold one million copies of an album in Europe. Staged at the Hotel Plaza, the event was hosted by Phil Collins and attended by senior European politicians including the then President of the European Commission Romano Prodi and Senior Vice President Neil Kinnock. A huge venezia hoist system was brought about using a gold LurexVoile 100 curtain, giving the evening a glamourous touch. On stage white Polystretch P5 fabrics were tightened fast.
